She began her journey into dentistry when she was in high school, where she made the decision to become a dentist because of her desire to help people by utilizing her creative and scientific skills. Ever since then, she has been dedicated to the profession and is so happy to have the opportunity to make a difference in her patients’ lives every day – both physically and emotionally – by providing high quality dental care in an accessible way.

“So many patients have fear and anxiety about visiting the dentist. My goal is to help people feel comfortable and trust that I am always their advocate,” she says. “Getting to know my patients and build a long term relationship is one of the joys of being a dentist. There is a special trust and connection in the patient-dentist relationship that makes this profession so fun and fulfilling.”.

During her time at UMSOD, Dr. Romay was very involved in the Baltimore community as well as the dental school community. She served as the Vice President of the Maryland Student Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists and through this roll she provided free dental care to women in rehabilitation programs with the Smiles for Success Foundation. She also planned and organized many events for dental students and mentored other women students in the dental school. As a senior dental student, she was chosen for the Domestic Violence Survivors Clerkship and provided free dental care for women who suffered from domestic violence and were in job training programs. She was recognized for her dental outreach and hours served to the community and received the Dean’s Award for Community Service. For her commitment to excellent patient care, she was chosen by her professors as the recipient of the “Best of the Best in Prosthodontics” award in her dental class. She also received the American Student Dental Association Student Leader award for her leadership and school involvement.

Dr. Romay trained in dental prosthetics for one year after dental school where she learned advanced techniques in crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and complex treatments.
